Here at WindSoleil, We strongly believe that energy-efficient / sustainable homes and buildings are the way of the future. You can even see the progress now, when you go to a home improvement store and there are so many energy efficient appliances available from LED lights, energy efficient fridges, stoves, etc. It seems that many have seen the negative impacts their “footprint” has had on the environment and are doing what they can to change that.

Majority of the energy produced to power homes in the United States is from the burning of fossil fuels (coal, oil, natural gas) or from nuclear power plants. Using these sources of fuel to power our homes has had a significant impact on the environments around us, some of course being more directly visible than others.  Now that more people are aware of that, many people, companies, and agencies are taking strides to provide, build, and live in energy efficient homes and buildings. We at WindSoleil, strongly believe that people should start now to make their apartments, homes or buildings more energy efficient, as it is healthier for you and will save you lots of money in the long run.

So an energy efficient or sustainable building does not necessarily have to be powered by Solar Panels or Wind Turbines to be energy efficient, but even making a change in the appliances that you use or the electronic devices that you have makes a difference. Examples include but are not limited to:

  • Using Energy Star appliances for your Refrigerator, Microwave, Oven, etc.
  • Installing windows or openings that allow for natural light to come in the place

  • Using LED Light Bulbs instead of your conventional incandescent bulbs

  • Using Eco-Paints to paint, that do not contain any VOC, are Non-Toxic, and Odorless

  • Building the place with recycled materials or refurbished materials

  • Reusing the Greywater in the home / building to water lawns

  • Applying some type of renewable energy to power a portion or all of the building / home

  • Using Solar Thermal technology to heat the water

  • Proper insulation to prevent heat or cool air from escaping

Above are just a few ways you can make your place you work or live more energy efficient, however there are definitely other ways to help. Always remember that every little difference you make in becoming more energy efficient and sustainable matters, it can make an impact.
